Note* You will need to uninstall any previous versions before installing this update.

How To: Uninstall Microsoft Windows Defender in Windows XP

  • Click Start > Control Panel
  • Click Add or Remove Programs
  • Click Windows Defender
  • Click Remove
  • Click Yes when prompted to remove Windows Defender

Installing this update will bring Windows Defender up to the same codebase as the version in Microsoft Windows Vista.
